An Assessment of Information Control: Understanding Library Service Quality from Users’ Perspectives

Objective – This study aims to measure library users’ perceptions of the quality information control using LibQual, a survey instrument that measures minimum perceived and desired levels service across three dimensions: Effect Service, Library as Place, Information Control. Numerous studies LibQual have emphasized aspect, while has received less attention. Previous reported low in academic libraries. Methods A descriptive was conducted at Universitas Islam Negeri Sumatera Utara (UINSU), Medan, Indonesia, where active members total 49,892. Using proportional random sampling, 100 completed surveys were obtained from population Results shows UINSU Medan does not meet user expectations. Nevertheless, ease navigation acceptable. The also reveals promoted services through exhibition activities, education social media. Conclusion findings suggest need for libraries improve services, including content information, access protocols, search time, navigation, interface, outside campus. Further, conduct continuous evaluation on regular basis (using tools such LibQual) understand needs users terms better. results present provide strong evidence support recommendation that, general, universities should required resources funding ensure standards.
